  1. Organization Background:

WOMEN’s national nongovernmental organization, nonpolitical and nonprofit organization was established and registered by the Minister of Interim Council since December 21, 1993 and re-register with Ministry of the Interior number 314D, on 11 April 2000.  WOMEN’s vision is envisages a society where the rights of vulnerable people and all children are respected; and they have access to health, social services and improved livelihoods through sustainable development. WOMEN mission is a community based organization that delivers effective programs working with individuals and communities to develop and use their ability to improve their quality of life, to achieve their potential and contribute to social sustainability development.

WOMEN have 3 years strategic plan is from 2011 to 2015 by delivers effective programs working with individuals and communities to develop and use their ability to improve their quality of life, to achieve their potential and contribute to social development and working in partnership with government, authority and community for support to the vulnerable people that affected from health HIV/AIDS, climate change adaptation, natural disaster. WOMEN has individual strategic goals for support the key target such as

  1. People living with HIV/AIDS (PLHIV) and Orphan and vulnerable children (OVC) on integration prevention care and support, to improving the quality of life of PLHIV, OVC families.
  2. Most at risk infection of HIV and sexual reproductive health as community people, Entertainment workers, male clients and other high risk group.
  3. Livelihood program support for poor community people, PLHIV, OVC families that affected from disease, family crisis, climate change and natural disaster,
  4. Together Addressing Climate Change; to contribute to address the global climate change, by promotes awareness on the impact of the climate changes by preserving the national environment.

WOMEN commits to the following values:

WOMEN are member of MEDiCAM, Cambodian Climate Change Network, HIV/AIDS Coordination Committee (HACC), National Orphan and Vulnerable children Task Force (NOVCTF) and Child safe Organization (CSO) and implementing partnership with Khmer HIV/AIDS NGO Alliance (KHANA), National Center for HIV/AIDS Dermatology and STI (NCHADS), Asian Development Bank (ADB), FHI 360, Save the children International (SCI), Agency for Technical Cooperation and Development (ACTED), Cambodia Climate Change Alliance (CCCA) Ministry of Environment and American World Adoption Association (AWAA).

 

WOMEN have 110 staffs members and 250 volunteers working across 6 provincials. WOMEN manage by governed Board of Directors consists with five members who have relevant experience working in Cambodian NGOs and technical advisor for support and orientation of program implementation to ensure right direction of project implementation compare to organization strategic plan and implementation plan. WOMEN has and clear  Management teams role and responsibility that consist with President, general program manager, program manager, finance manager, project officer, finance officer and supervisors. The management teams will conduct regularly meeting by raise up quarterly achievement presentation, problem solving and planning. Beside that WOMEN have annually staffs meeting for compile all annual achievement presentation reporting and planning for the next years and development or amendment of any necessary policy.     

 

  1. WOMEN’s currently programs and donors:
  • Together Addressing Climate Change Initiative in Prey Veng (TACCI-PV) Climate Change and Adaptation program- Funded by Cambodia Climate Change Alliance (CCCA) support by UNDP, EU, Sida and DANIDA for 2011-2013.
  • Integration HIV/AIDS prevention, care and support program: Funded Global Fund for HIV/AIDS Tuberculosis and Malaria through NCHADS, Khmer HIV/AIDS NGO Alliance (KHANA) this program working with People Living with HIV/AIDS, OVC and Community people the project up to end of 2015.
  • Child rights and child protection: Save the Children International from 2013-2014.
  • Improving the access of Sexual and reproductive Health information and services for community people, young couple and youths funded by Agency for Technical Cooperation and Development (ACTED)-PSF for 2013-2014.
  • Promote gender equality and women’s empowerment in Cambodia, through Reduced HIV and trafficking risk, vulnerability among women and girls in 5 target communities and 3 Casino place in Oddor Meanchay through improved local capacity funded by Asia Development Bank (ADB)and technical support by NAA and FHI 360 for 2013-2014.

 

  1. Area of Work:

 

WOMEN working with in 6 provinces by establish one head office in Phnom Penh and 5 sub-offices as kandal, Prey Veng, Kompong Cham, Kompong thom and Oddor meanchay Province.

 

  1. Phnom Penh municipality:
    1. HIV/AIDS Integration prevention, care and support, livelihood program working with PLHIV, OVC and community people to access health service as HIV prevention, VCCT, OI-ARV, PMCTC service, social support and income generation activities coverage with 4 health center as Chamcar Mon, Stueng Meanchay, Chamcar Dong and Prey Veng, with 6 Sangkat in 4 Khan/District of Chamcar Mon, Meanchay, Dongkor and Pour Senchay.
    2. Entertainment program (EW) working with 110 entertainment work place cover 11 Sankat in 4 Khan/District such as Chamcar Mon, Toulkok, Meanchay, Dongkor, Rusey Keo and Pour Senchay.
    3. Provide OVC sponsorship and scholarship support to access school and living support.
  2. Kandal province:
    1. HIV/AIDS integration prevention care and support, livelihood program working with PLHIV, OVC and community people to access health service as HIV/AIDS prevention, VCCT, OI-ARV, PMCTC, social support and income generation activities in 9 District as Khos Thom, Tamao, Kandal Stueng, Kien Sway, Ksach Kandal, Mokkompul, Lva Em, Pournga Lou and Angsnul.
  3. Prey Veng Province:
    1. HIV/AIDS integration prevention care and support, livelihood program working with PLHIV, OVC and community people to access health service as HIV prevention, VCCT, OI-ARV, PMCTC, social support and income generation activities in 10 District as Peam Ro, Baphnom, Prash sdach, Kompong Troback, Messang, Komchay Mear, Sway Antour, Sithor Kandal, Pear Rang and Prey Veng.
    2. Climate change and adaptation working with community people who affected from climate change flooding and drought and lake, community forest conservation in 5 communes of Peam Ro, Baphnom, Sway Antour and Prey Veng Krong.
    3. Child protection program working with children, community people by collaboration in partnership with Commune Council for Women and Children (CCWC) within 4 commune of Peam Ro District.
    4. Sexual and Reproductive health working with youth, young couple and community people through collaboration partnership with CCWC in 2 communes of Peam Ro District.
    5. Provide OVC sponsorship and scholarship support to children to access school and living support.
  4. Kompong Cham Province:
    1. HIV/AIDS integration prevention, care and support program working with PLHIV and OVC to access health service as HIV prevention, VCCT, OI-ARV, PMCTC and social support in 4 District of Pounga Krek-Dambae, Kompong Cham-Kompong Siem, Stueng Trong-Kroch Chhmar and O-Rang Ov-Kosh Sotin.
  5. Kompong Thom Province:
    1. HIV/AIDS integration prevention, care and support program working with PLHIV and OVC to access health service as HIV prevention, VCCT, OI-ARV, PMCTC and social support in Kompon Sway District.
  6. Oddor Meanchay Province:
    1. HIV/AIDS integration prevention, care, support and livelihood program working with PLHIV, OVC and community people to access health service as HIV prevention, VCCT, OI-ARV, PMCTC, social support and income generation in 5 District as Samrong, Bontey Ampil, Chongkal, Anlong Veng and Tropang Prasat.
    2. Promote gender equality and women’s empowerment through Reduced HIV and trafficking risk and vulnerability among women and girls in 4 District as Samrong, Bontey Ampil, Anlong Veng and Tropang Prasat.

 

  1. Key achievement:

 

By the end of 2012 WOMEN have to achieved works with 4,460 people living with HIV/AIDS (PLHIV), 4500 orphans and vulnerable children (OVC) for provide education prevention care and support, 895 entertainment workers, 2,925 male clients received education awareness raising on HIV/AIDS and referral to access health service, 1,750 community people, young couple and youth received education on sexual and reproductive health, 850 vulnerability children received education, intervention on child safe and protection mechanism and 8,940 community people received education on climate change and adaptation and empower them to using their right on community natural resource protection and involvement in community development process.

WOMEN is a community based organization that delivers effective programs working to improve quality of life of the most vulnerability people in poor communities, ethnic minority communities to achieve their potential and contribute to social sustainability development through build up the capacity, networking and followed the national law and government policy by establishment MOU and sub-contract working with national level, sub-national level, NGO, private sectors and other stakeholder for partnership working which part of development and social support gaps and working together addressing to support to the most of vulnerabilities people group that affected from health HIV/AIDS, social issue, climate change, natural disaster and community development.
